We've just unearthed a great piece of T&G history!
"Air Transat" was the first transatlantic air race held June in 1981. The race had entrants from all over the world fly from Paris to New York to Paris.
Our founder, Larry Rohl, and then recent student, Paul Duffy, represented Cleveland in the race. They flew "The Pride of Cleveland" and finished 10th in the marathon flight. Of the entrants, only about half finished, while one crew was lost at sea, another ditched in Greenland, and another made an emergency landing on an island off of Scotland.
Thanks to Heber (one of the first members of T&G) for putting this together!
Enjoy this look back at flying (and fashion).
With the warm weather arrival, the Piper Cub has just come out of hibernation. Come by and experience "low and slow!"
Many people believe that since UAV pilots don't actually "fly" the airplane, they don't need a pilot license. However, this is usually not the case. To become a UAV pilot you'll need to earn at least a commercial pilot license with an instrument rating, and get at least a third class FAA medical certificate. T&G can help get you there!
Two successful check rides today! Anthony now has his Commercial license and David is now a Private Pilot. Congrats!
